O Poder da Arte no Sonho (I)

Para enquadrar o tema da Arte e desenvolver a questão que nos propomos sobre o poder da Arte no sonho, gostaríamos de citar Mário Soares, através de um pensamento que proferiu, durante a recepção solene na Academia Francesa, em 15 de fevereiro de 1993 e que intitulou o Direito ao Sonho:
“Os homens buscam ansiosos novos caminhos, conscientes como estão de que se encontram esgotadas as vias tentadas no passado para resolver o difícil problema da conciliação da liberdade individual com o direito de todos a uma vida digna, em clima de paz social e de ativa solidariedade.” Eis algumas palavras que poderão ajudar na síntese à nossa exposição, que tem como temática aspetos que estarão certamente, em parte ou no todo, profundamente ligados àqueles que citámos. De facto, o poder da Arte manifesta-se em realidades conhecidas ou imaginárias que poderão verificar-se no sonho de qualquer homem, de qualquer obra ou de qualquer comunidade; aliás, o sonho será ainda mais legítimo quando este remete para a liberdade e para a descoberta de novos caminhos para a vida e para a paz, porque, sendo o sonho um direito natural da vida e do homem, será também um direito à possibilidade da realização humana na liberdade de sonhar e de descobrir, conjuntamente com a liberdade de viver e de sentir-se em paz e harmonia.
De facto, o motivo que nos convida a esta meditação faz parte de uma caminhada humana que tem sido marcada por inúmeras circunstâncias; diversas dificuldades e factos mais ou menos penosos. Um custo variável que define e caracteriza o esforço que une a honra com a glória, o sucesso com a exaltação, o fracasso com o desânimo, a luz com a graça e a vida com o sonho. Prémios e dissabores de uma história que é única… Uma narrativa que poderá descrever a solidariedade entre os homens e poderá explicar por feitos e factos que sentimentos os unem, e que mistério os envolve na procura de algo que está inevitavelmente para além da arte; algo que não se resumirá nem se poderá descrever com a mesma coincidência, “com que se bebe porque se tem sede” ou “se abre os olhos porque se quer ver”, porque na expressão da arte, estará contida a vontade de sonhar e do sonho.
Tratar-se-á de limites de coincidência que serão tangentes aos desejos humanos, aos efeitos das obras; à utilidade dos bens; nomeadamente musicais, esculturais, pictóricos, mas também coincidentes com Deus, que nos faz coincidir com a Sua Obra e nos torna membros do nosso destino e eleitos da Sua História. Só deste modo se pode explicar o entusiasmo com que trabalhamos e pensamos para servir os outros e mostrarmos a nossa validade; só deste modo e por esta forma, poderemos entender o poder da Arte no sonho.
É evidente que são muito gratificantes as palavras amigas que ouvimos aos outros, que nos amam e são nossos amigos; os momentos raros que vivemos, em certas ocasiões da vida, que nos exaltam e fazem emocionar, porque como membros da sociedade nos sentimos bem, quando ela nos reconhece no bem que praticamos, dando-nos dignidade, honra e solenidade, mas se fossem apenas estes os fatores de coesão e de empenhamento e não existissem outros que nos transcendem na sua localização e visualidade, a solidariedade social e o desejo por qualquer boa causa não durariam muito e o sentimento de esforço coletivo rapidamente acabaria; pois as palavras amigas são escassas e os momentos solenes são muito raros.

To fit in the theme of Art and develop the question we propose ourselves about the power of the Art in the dream, we would like to quote Mário Soares, through a thought he uttered, during the solemn reception at the French Academy, on 15 February 1993, and that he entitled The Right to Dream:
“Men search anxious for new paths, aware as they are that the ways tried in the past are wasted to resolve the difficult problem of conciliation of individual liberty with the right of all to a decent life, in an atmosphere of social peace and active solidarity.” Here are some words that may help in the synthesis of our exposition, which has as theme aspects that will be certainly, in part or in whole, deeply connected to those we have quoted. In fact, the power of the Art manifests itself in known or imaginary realities that might take place in a dream of any man, of any work or of any community; besides, the dream will be even more legitimate when it forwards to freedom and to the discovery of new paths for life and for peace, because, being the dream a natural right of life and of man, it will be also a right to the possibility of human realization in the freedom of dreaming and of discovering, in conjunction with the freedom of living and of feeling oneself in peace and harmony.
In fact, the motive that invites us to this meditation is part of a human journey which has been marked by numberless circumstances; several difficulties and more or less painful facts. A variable cost that defines and characterizes the effort that unites honor with glory, success with exaltation, failure with discouragement, light with grace and life with dream. Prizes and unpleasantnesses of a story which is unique… A narrative that might describe the solidarity between men and that might explain by feats and facts which feelings bind them, and what mystery involves them in the search of something that is inevitably beyond art; something that will not be summed up or might be described with the same coincidence, “with which one drinks because he or her is thirsty” or “one opens his or her eyes because one wants to see”, because in the expression of the art, it will be contained the will of dreaming and of the dream.
The question is of limits of coincidence that will be tangent to human wishes, to the effects of the works; to the utility of goods; namely musical, sculptural, pictorial, but also coincident with God, Who makes us coincide with His Work and makes us members of our destiny and elect of His History. Only by this way one can explain the enthusiasm with which we work and think to serve the others and to show our vigor; only by this way and by this form, we may understand the power of the Art in the dream.
It is evident that are very gratifying the friendly words we hear from others, who love us and are our friends; the rare moments we live, on occasions of life, which exalt us and thrill us, because as members of society we feel well, when it acknowledges us in the good we practice, giving us dignity, honor and solemnity, but if were only these the factors of cohesion and of commitment and were there not others that transcend us at their location and visuality, the social solidarity and the wish for any good cause would not last very long, and the feeling of collective effort would soon end; for the friendly words are scarce and the solemn moments are very rare.
